Blessed with both a distinctive voice and a magnetic down-home Texas personality, Dawn McCoy is a country artist on the rise. Drawing on the singers she idolized as a young girl (Connie Smith, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Jessi Colter) and the best her native Lone Star State has offered up (Tanya Tucker, Dixie Chicks), what Dawn brings to the table of country music is like a good old classic southern recipe with a tasty new twist.

By the age of three, Dawn was performing in the Dallas area, and was a seasoned regular on the North Texas Opry talent show circuit by the time she was twelve. After college, she followed her musical aspirations to Los Angeles where she became the lead singer of a California country five piece named Hawkeye. Hawkeye routinely played some of L.A.'s most exclusive venues, such as The Roxy, The Mint, and The Hotel Café, and the band quickly found themselves among the elite of the city's flourishing country community. During this time, she earned legions of fans who were drawn to her warm voice and even warmer personality - as well as to the home-baked treats she was known to serve up at their shows.

After Hawkeye disbanded in 2004, Dawn was invited to appear on Chris Richards' album, Tumblers and Grit. The album was among the most critically lauded of 2004, and their duet "Hearts Like These" received substantial airplay in the U.S. and in Europe, leading to appearances for CMT and The Grand Ole Opry. “Hearts Like These” has also been included on the 2005 Country Music Today New Music Collection CD.

Dawn is now living in Nashville, wrapping up writing and collecting songs for her forthcoming debut album. And baking things. And there’s little doubt that the results of both those pursuits will be as fresh and sweet as anything you’ve ever tasted.
